THROWDOWN THURSDAYS (6 week wheel)
Join us for SIX weeks of wheel throwing, all levels welcome! This class is perfect for beginners looking to get their feet wet and hands dirty. It is also suitable for those with prior experience to fine-tune their practice! The first week will be an introduction (or refresher for some) to the foundations of wheelthrowing: centering and pulling up. The first week also introduces students to our studio etiquette and practices. After the first week, students who are comfortable centering and able to pull cylinders may work more independently on their own projects during class.
KIDS STOP MOTION (ages 6+)
This extra special workshop will cover the basics of stop motion animation over 3 weeks with guest teacher, Dan Florez. Students will create short animations from 2d images, drawings, paintings, collage and incorporate 3d aspects using objects and fimo clay. We will also spend some time on sound exploration.
Families are invited 30 minutes early on the last day of class for a film premiere!
SIP & SKETCH: FIGURE DRAWING AT SPINSTER ABBOTT’S #9
Live model drawing session at one of our favorite local spots, Spinster Abbotts, just for FUN! This month we will be donating proceeds to our local immigrant mutual aid fund 💕
Bring your favorite drawing materials, surfaces and if you have it, an easel or drawing pad. We will have some extras available to share. This event is 18+

PICTURE FRAMES & PHOTOBOOTHS
In this special workshop & crossover class, we will create custom ceramic photo frames! Students are welcome to bring their own photos from home (or polaroid lifts from our prior workshop!) as well as head on over to our friends workshop to take two fresh photo strips!
MC Pressure is three doors down from us and is home to an analog b&w chemistry Photo Booth, one of only 300 left in the world! Class cost includes two photo strips, so this is a GREAT class to take with friends or lovers.
Option at check-out to add on a second week to return for 2 hours and glaze your frames! For the one week only class, you may add some pops of color on the wet clay with underglaze, and choose your bucket dipping glazes which we will take care of for you.
GUEST CLASS: POLAROID LIFTS
In this special guest class, photographer Zach Sawyer will share tips and tricks to creating successful Polaroid Emulsion lifts on watercolor paper.
Camera, film, and supplies included for attendees to try 5 shots each! Bring items from home for still lifes, try out portraits, or shoot things we have around our studio.
TUESDAY (day!) CLAY CLUB
Join the TUESDAY (day) CLAY CLUB which meets on Tuesdays from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM with Bre & friends! This is an open hand-building class with very little structure and alot of freedom to play with clay. Suggested minimum attendance is 2 classes (1 to hand-build your pieces, 1 to glaze) with the option to add additional sessions.
Spaces are limited so you must sign up online to join! After signing up online for your first full price session, class packs are available for direct purchase, at a cash discount!
SCREENPRINTING Middle + HS

In this 2-day crash course, students will learn the basics of DIY-style screenprinting using hand-cut stencils in combination with the photo-emulsion technique. Paper and inks are provided, but students who wish to print on fabric must supply their own items.

Films made will be shown in our end-of-summer exhibit!

3-DAY HANDBUILDING: LITTLES! Ages 4-6
In this three day camp for ages 4-6, students will learn the fundamentals of handbuilding with clay! By pinching, coil building, slab-rolling, and adding color using underglazes, young artists will create multiple ceramic projects, ranging from decorative pieces to functional dishware! This camp also incorporates drawing everyday, movement breaks, mindful moments and we play lots of fun games. No experience necessary!
CHEESE & CLAY CROSSOVER (3)
A third of its kind crossover at Make Space, back by popular request- CHEESE & CLAY! Saturday June 7th we will be hand-building ceramic snack boards (& more!) at the studio, with an “intermission” culinary lesson from our friends Bluebird Growers.
Attendees will learn the process behind making a soft labneh-style cheese. We will get to enjoy the freshly made “demo” products for a snack break, and finish up by adding color to our carved boards! Cheese boards will be slow dried and clear glazed, ready to pick up in 2-3 weeks. While some drinks & snacks will be provided, guests are encouraged to bring their favorites to class for inspiration!
QUEER CLAY CLUB
Queer as in CLAY CLUB! Join us at the studio for a relaxing evening of pinching and shaping clay with Leda. This class is open to all bodies, identities and experience levels (over 18) but we hope to provide a safe and affirming environment specifically for our local LGBTQIA+ friends. This class is as much about building community as making pottery. Sliding scale pricing for accessibility, with any additional donations sent to to the Queer Trans Project.
2 DAYS x 2 WEEKS CLAY CAMP / Ages 6-10
*FULL* In this two-week session of clay camp, students will spend the first two days learning the fundamentals of hand-building. Students will learn by doing, tackling projects on our idea list, and/or free styling their own creations! No experience necessary. They will return the next week for 2 days of glazing.
3-DAY HANDBUILDING Ages 6-10

MOVIE MATINEE DOUBLE FEATURE
Make Space is proud to partner with Compassionate St. Augustine for this Movie Matinee Double Feature. We will start with a showing of the documentary “Occupation of the American Mind” and follow with the Lebanese directed comedy-drama “Where do we go now?”
This is a free community event but you must RSVP as space is limited. Donations will be accepted to be sent directly to a family from South Lebanon, currently displaced and in need of financial assistance for medical support, food, and housing.

RAKU FIRING!
Join us for a very special visiting artist workshop, our first ever RAKU firing with Herrick Smith! This is a BYOB (bring your own bisque) workshop, with glazes provided and applied on site. Guests are welcome to bring one small pre-fired ceramic item, about the size of a coffee cup! Items fired in this method however are *NOT* considered foodsafe. Along with the hands-on, step by step firing demo, Herrick will walk us through the historical development of Raku from Japan, through today.
PAINT A PIPE!
In this returning & favorite yearly workshop with our friend Sebastian, each attendee will get one blank signature slipcast pebble pipe to personalize, made by Miwak Jr. The pebble pipes are fired once before class, and ready to be painted in underglazes and glazes. Designs can be made freehand or using Miwak’s stencils. Additional pipes to customize can be purchased in person. The pipes will be fired to cone 10, fully vitrified and ready to pick up in time for the 4/20 festivities!
This workshop is adults 18+ only. Ages 21+ may BYOB, snacks, ect…. All supplies are included in the cost of the class.
CHARMS & CHARTS (adults)
In this two week workshop, students are invited to make cosmic clay charms and trinket trays, inspired by their astrological signs. Special Guest, Becky Williams, will be offering optional readings, covering the basics of your birth chart with a focus on your “big three'“ (Sun, Moon & Ascendant.) Those who wish to dig a little deeper will receive instructions via email to pay Becky directly, and provide her with specific info before class. The first week will be spent handbuilding with Bre for all, and reading with Becky for some. The second week will be spent glazing all once-fired items. Work will be ready for pick up within 2 weeks after the final class.
TWO PART MOLD MAKING
This crash course into mold-making with Herrick Smith will set students up with the knowledge to start their mold making journey off right! Attendees will sculpt a simple form out of plasticine clay and learn to mix & pour plaster to create a two- part mold. All supplies are provided, and reading material will be emailed to students before class to show up prepared and with realistic expectations.
POTTERY IS FOR LOVERS
If you have ever wanted to feel like Swayze & Demi IRL- You're in luck! This year we are offering a very small and intimate couples wheelthrowing session with Holly Culpepper showing you the way. You and your art partner will try your hands at throwing, and keep up to three items each- if you wish. Work will be ready to pick-up in 3-4 weeks to remind you forever of this special night. 21+ can always BYOB. Email us to set-up a morning drop-off for the ultimate sweet surprise :)
CHARMS & CALENDARS (kids)
This three week workshop will incorporate both ceramics and screenprinting. Our first week will be spent learning about our horoscope signs. Students will then make astrologically inspired charms + trinket dishes out of clay. The second week will be glazing our once fired clay items. We will also collaborate, through drawing & collage, on a 2026 lunar calendar design. The third week we will screenprint our calendar design as a team turn our fully fired charms into keychains (& more!)
FINANCIAL FOUNDATIONS FOR CREATIVES
Calling all creative entrepreneurs! Join us for a special guest workshop in financial foundations with Kate DePalma. This offering is perfect for visual artists, musicians, and socially conscious entrepreneurs to strengthen their financial literacy.
Topics covered can range from money management of irregular income streams to pricing creative work effectively. Class sales will be donated to Bold City Remix.
TUESDAY CLAY CLUB

NATURAL DYE: INDIGO
Kristin and her indigo vat will be popping up for a lesson in natural dye & shibori style tying techniques! Class cost includes 3 bandanas, with additional items available for purchase in person. Students are also welcome to bring in 2 small fabric items from home!
PAW PRINTS for FUR EVER!
It’s about time your four legged friend visited us at Make Space and got to stick their paws in some clay!!! BY APPT only we are offering doggy paw-print sessions, with 50% of every sale donated to Swamp Haven. Each appointment time can accommodate one dog for pre-registration ($10 includes one ornament) but if your pup wants to bring along their well behaved friends to join in on the fun, they can pay in person! Option to make up to 5 ornaments (or paper weights) per pup and customize them with stamped names & numbers. We will glaze the pieces for you and have them ready for pickup during our Open Studio Dec 21!
PAINT-A-POT FAMILY SESSIONS
Clay painting sessions open to all ages. Children must be chaperoned! $10 per person to sign up includes one pre-made ceramic ornament to glaze, with additional ornaments and dinnerware blanks available for purchase in person. Duration of workshop is dependent on your own glazing speed & level of detail! Items will be clear glazed, fired again and ready for pick-up by December 18.
HAND STITCHED HOLIDAYS
In this special winter guest workshop, Kristin will teach the basics of embroidery stitches & tricks of the hand sewn trade. You can expect lots of wool, felt, string, stitching, pom poms, beads and baubles! Use this time to create folksy heirloom decorations for yourself or to gift! Students are welcome to bring in any special textiles or details from home, though all supplies are provided. Learn the steps to getting started, and take with you the knowledge to continue creating on your own!
Items made during class can be decorated with underglaze to be clear glazed by our staff, left plain with glaze instructions, or students can sign up for a Clay Monday or Clay Friday where they can glaze themselves, and put their new skills to work making more pots!

Join us at the studio to honor the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people for an afternoon of ceramics and community. This is a very casual handbuilding workshop with a short demonstration to start. Class sales, after supply costs, will be donated directly to two families in Gaza. All supplies are provided to craft pieces of your own unique creation OR, if you don’t feel inspired but still want to join- you can help us in making our fundraiser items to sell at markets. No experience necessary!
