RAKU FIRING!

  • Make Space Workshop + Classroom 31 Masters Drive, Unit 1 St. Augustine, FL, 32084 United States (map)

Visting Artist: Herrick Smith

Join us for a very special visiting artist workshop, our first ever RAKU firing! This is a BYOB (bring your own bisque) workshop, with glazes provided and applied on site.

Guests are welcome to bring one small pre-fired ceramic item, about the size of a coffee cup! Items fired in this method however are *NOT* considered foodsafe.

Along with the hands-on, step-by-step firing demo, Herrick will walk us through the historical development of Raku from Japan, through today.

For those without a home kiln, join us for a Clay Club session on a Monday or Friday night (last chance May 8) and hand build a piece! Email us at hello@makespaceworkshop.com to inquire about open spots if none are currently available online.

Herrick will be serving tea during the educational portion of this workshop. And, as always, students are welcome to bring in any snacks and drinks of their own to enjoy during the class.
