✦ Installation at Francis Field Sept 19

Friends Of The St. Augustine Amphitheatre
& St Johns Cultural Council
Last year, the Make Space team—with help from our community—designed, painted, and installed a 48x8-foot mural at Francis Field during Sing Out Loud Festival’s Live Wildly Showcase. We used drawings submitted by community members and had plenty of help with painting.
This year, we're opening the opportunity to our creative friends in a much bigger way! We’re inviting visual artists to participate in a community murals project celebrating the flora, fauna, and folklore of wild Florida—as they see it
✦ We are accepting submissions for multiple 8x8 ft murals, installed during the showcase festival. We will provide the wood (2 panels, 8 x 4 ft each) as well as sealant. Each artist will also receive a $500 materials stipend, and a pair of GA+ weekend tickets for participating.
✦ To be considered, you will have to fill out the form below and include a developed sketch of your mural proposal. There is no saving and coming back to the form, so have your images ready before answering the quesions. Artists also have the option to upload images of previous work in similar mediums or styles that support their proposal, not a requirement.
✦ The theme is flora (plants) fauna (animals) and folklore (everything else!) of Wild Florida. Check out this list of animals & plants of Florida Wildlife Corridor we made last year if you need a starting point.
✦ Do not use words or logos. Stick to images, patterns, and vibes. Art work inspired by music, musicians & musical elements will also be considered. Limit of two designs per artist, both designs can be uploaded in one singular submission form below.
✦ Sketches can be digital, or physical. Physical sketches must be photographed clearly, well-lit, and high resolution.
✦ Sketches must be to proportion: square. Actual size will be 8x8 ft. Images should be 300 dpi and suggested 1200x1200 pixels.
✦ Use colors close to your intended color palette.
✦ $500 materials stipend can be used on materials of artists choosing. Last year we used house paint, paint markers, spray paint, wheatpaste and digital prints.
✦ Locals with a place to paint can start early on their murals. Those who need it will be provided a space to paint the week of the festival.
We want to graciously thank all those who participate and share their talents with us. If your proposal is selected, you will be notified by August 15. If your work is not selected, we hope that you still enjoy the creative challenge and made something fun!
